Trees for Cities is an independent charity set up in 1993 to work with local communities on tree planting projects. Our aim is to tackle global warming, create social cohesion and beautify our cities through tree planting, community, education and training initiatives in urban areas of greatest need. Originally called Trees for London, we were established “to advance the education of the public in the appreciation of trees and their amenity value; and in the furtherance of this, the protection and planting of trees particularly in inner city areas”. In 2003, the charity increased its geographical remit and changed its name to Trees for Cities.
